Hey New Leader!

Congratulations on the first day in your new role. This is an exciting milestone and recognition of the commitment you have demonstrated so far. As you begin this transition, it is important to remember that moving from team member to leader is one of the most significant changes you will experience in your professional life.

It is normal for this period to feel disruptive, so reflection and growth will be crucial. Relationships will change, expectations will increase, and you may have to assess situations from a completely new perspective. Think about how you want to lead your new team and then answer the questions below. They will help me evaluate what assistance or other resources you may need during the first few weeks. Please be honest!

About you:

  • What qualities do you want to incorporate into your own leadership style?
  • What excites you about this role, and what concerns you?

Your team:

  • How might your colleagues feel about your role as a new leader?
  • How will you build trust with each team member?

Potential challenges:

  • What support might you need from your manager during this transition?

I look forward to supporting you throughout your leadership journey.

Talk soon.

Susan

Hello,

Thank you for your email and your kind words. I would also like to congratulate you on your new role, as I know the interview process is very intense and takes a lot of effort. I am also keen about the opportunity to work together and contribute to the success of this group.

During my time with the organisation, I have worked with several different teams and have a broad range of experience that I think will be applicable to our future projects. When scoping tasks, I am always prepared to assist in any way. I look forward to discussing this with you.

Thanks,

Daniel
